What is PIP Coverage?

This week, Mark J. Palumbo explains PIP or Personal Injury Protection Coverage. When asked to examine automobile insurance coverage, PIP is one of the policies we review. Personal Injury Protection is a no-fault policy on your insurance that covers your medical bills and 85% of your lost wages if you are injured in an automobile accident. Mark explains that there are several amounts of PIP Coverage one can have but recommends looking at your situation and review with your insurance agent.

What is Marital Property?

This week, Michael O’Shea explains marital property. Marital property often comes up in a context of divorce proceedings. Under Maryland law, marital property is defined as any property, however titled, that was acquired by one or both the spouses during the marriage. Marital property does not include any property that is directly traceable to the following: property obtained before the marriage, any inheritance or gift by a third-party, and anything that is excluded by valid agreement. Michael goes on to explain, Tenants by the Entirety, which is a term that is used in a deed for real property that is exclusively used during a marriage, and what it entails.

What are the legal limits of DUI/DWI?

A DUI stands for “Driving Under the Influence.” This charge means that the blood alcohol content of the driver is .08% or higher blown on a breathalyzer. In contrast, a DWI stands for “Driving While Intoxicated.” A DWI is when the blood alcohol content of the driver is .07% or higher blown on a breathalyzer.

Why Do I Need a Will?
